1. Well you have two options. Officially yes you will need a contract cause AT&T stopped selling those iPhones without contracts (which cost like $400 and aren't factory unlocked unlike other iPhones sold at the same price overseas)

Option number two is to go to cragslist (best option) or eBay or somewhere online to get an iPhone second handed. Around $300 for a iPhone 3G not bad...

2. Even if you didn't have Pay as u Go you'll have WiFi....

3. Are you kidding me? They lock you in for two years on their contract you have to pay every month. You get the iPhone for the reduced $99 price/ $199 price and get locked into their contract. If you cancel your contract you'll have to pay a termination fee which is $200 plus $10 for every month afterward

4. Yes you can use a AT&T Sim Card

You'll have to buy it through craigslist (it's local it's best option) I guess...

I'm guessing you live in the US. You have to have a contract when you use an iPhone with at&t. There is no pay as you go with the iphone. Only specific phones can be used for pay as you go phones. A contract is basically a way for a phone company to lock into staying with them for 2 years (or one year if you choose to do so for a slightly higher price). The last question.. i'm not sure what the answer is.. skwidwerd
