Would buying an iphone and only using it for an ipod work?

Safest thing to do is go to a shop, take out the sim card of a demonstration model, and see for yourself if it meets your needs. Yes, it will run without a sim card, but some other features might get disabled. Don’t take our word for it, check it out physically! lmf7000

It needs AT&T service to get activated, but after it gets activated with a DATA plan, you can then cancel the service, and use it as an iPod. Honestly, if you got the money ok, use it, otherwise just get an iPod. You don’t get gps capability, and camera. major features. Otherwise 3GS coming out soon, or the iPhone 3G for 99. AT&T sucks I know.

To be able to use it as just an ipod, you will have to purchase it from somewhere other than AT&T…AT&T won’t sell it to you for $99 without a 2 year contract. Karlo B
