sincerely, see me asked:

Is it as useful and comfortable as a regular keyboard. So when i start doing research for my book i feel like the Ipad would be a better research tool and i wouldnt be stuck at my computer desk for hours typing.

the keyboard is the worst feature… it sucks. Waffle

Thats why i purchased an AIR instead. The I-pad can do it but of course is limited to the amount of features it has :)

So basically you could but it would be difficult. Mac

No many people said they have problems with the keyboard on the apple ipad but i think a good Traditional laptop or computer will do just fine. Brian

If you are going to write a complete book, there is relatively no advantage to using an iPad over a computer. The iPad may have a decent keyboard for short text fields, or as much as a blog, but to write a book on this product would be nothing short of counter-productive. A normal keyboard allows faster typing because it has actual, elevated, individual keys vs. one touch screen with sensitive digital buttons. Go with a computer, you will have much less frequent errors and finish your book much more quickly. limejup

It comes down to personal preference. I prefer iPad keyboard and can type faster on it. Ever since I got my iPad I have been using it for all the work that I used to do on laptop like creating hundreds of documents ,uploading to WebDAV servers, downloading, remote access, joining web conferences and entertainment.

I have found as long as your work is not over complicated, iPad is more capable and faster than PC in many areas.

And the nature of work you have I guess you need to work with computer for long hours in that case. iPad will be much more suitable because it’s super light ,it never gets hot and you won’t have to worry about hooking it to the power outlet.

iPad might not be magical but it’s battery is magical for sure. Even if you use iPad continuously , battery will easily lasts over 15 hours.

iPad has all the book store in the world. On PC,You need to google about the bookstore and it will take time to find books but on iPad , all the bookstore including iBooks, kindle,B&N,Border and many more have made apps so it amazingly easy to find books of your interests.

And in case you are not totally comfortable with on screen keyboard, you can get physical keyboard.

You can also use speech to text feature on iPad so while lying on bed also you can write by speaking. iDevice.mobi

The only word processing software (so far) available for the iPad is the iPad version of Pages, from iWork.

Pages on a Macintosh is not the correct software for writing a book. The version of Pages that you can add to you iPad is a lesser version that the Macintosh version. Therefore, it is even less apt for writing books.

If you want to write a book, use something that is made for writing books. Adobe Indesign is a good choice, although it is not an application that is specifically made for writing books.

All of my answer so far assumes that you want to have control over what your book is going to look like. If you don’t mind a publisher doing the “look and feel” of your book, write it in a text editor like BBEdit and be done with it. Steve
